Winners and Losers. Residents and Activists.

8/27/2015

This morning the Daily News announced "Danah Zoulek, on behalf of more than 1,000 petitioners, submitted documents Wednesday to the Richfield administrator regarding board member term limits and Village Board size. "
While Danah and Jeff Gonyo were successful there were some people who afterward wished they had not signed the petitions and have asked to have their names removed.

Richfield residents know their right hand from their left, know right decisions from wrong decisions and know when political activists are doing things for personal gain as opposed to benefiting the community. Time will tell if these petitions impact the number of trustees in Richfield and if term limits are established.

Don't know how adding more government helps the village control costs. That is what is wrong with the country. Add more government, raise taxes, control the citizens

So you did not read the word SOME people. Where in the world did you get 1300? What planet are you on? Your comment is hilarious.

More representation not more government!
Government has more control when there are less board members. The best analogy I can think of is a monarchy vs our congress.

Really!! WRONG. there is more representation if people would get involved. they don't have to be on the board to make a difference. And the article did not say all 1300 wanted to resend their signatures. As soon as people found out that there was an underlining agenda then they said take me off. Plus when the petitioner was at the door they did not identify themselves until people asked who they were. I know this for a FACT

"Rescind" & "underlying"!
It is easier to listen to what you're trying to say if you use the correct words ;-)

Over 1300 people are getting involved and we only had ONE person ask to have their signature removed. That person had reasons other than Richfield politics, it was due to a personal issue as their daughter is a very dear friend if mine and it's a simple disagreement we are having.

There is no other underlying agenda. I have been more than happy to share my personal experiences as other residents shared theirs.

People signed based on the ACTUAL LANGUAGE of the referendums. It seems that you may be adding underlying agendas as reasons to oppose the referendums.

Residents WANT to be more involved and are so excited for the opportunity to have fresh ideas that both preserve what we love about our community, and improve what needs improving!

Yes, there were more than 1 person. Probably only one contacted the petitioner. Again, I know this for a fact. Facts cannot be disputed. They are what they are

The point here is that over 1300 people signed the petitions. We only needed 1017 people to sign in each one in order for them to be submitted. I personally think it would be very difficult to find over 300 people that wished they wouldn't have signed .

And truth is truth, I agree. If people are telling you they wished they never would have signed you would have to admit that some of those people are telling you that because they know that you oppose it. The fact is they signed. It may be a fact they wished they didn't sign but it is also a fact that they did sign.

Anyone who doesn't agree with term limits doesn't have to vote for it. We have plenty of time before the election to discuss the pros and cons of term limits and seven board members .

Yes,we have time so take it to understand the workings of the village. What a great job the board is doing holding down costs and making sure we don't let activists take over. Hopefully you will learn

Marie, your tone is so snarky. I am very aware how the board operates. Who exactly are you referring to when you say activists? Do you know any of these "activists" personally?

Your opinion is the board is doing a good job. My opinion is that whether they're doing a good job or not we should have term limits!
