Two years ago a bill was received in the mail noting the expiration date for Richfield Today. Without taking time to review past payments, the bill was paid. Only to learn it was a scam. Valid domain registration would expire 3 months later. That is when the scam was revealed. Money was not able to be retrieved.
The Washington County Sheriff dept. was made aware of the scam. They actually contacted a police dept. in the city where the check was sent based on information on the bill. Only to find there was no building at that location. The envelope must have had a different address.
Since then there have been 4 more contacts to renew a domain name, all were scams. Today was the 5th via email. Attached is a screen shot of the scam email received today for a web site of a high school reunion group. This time they offered SECURE ONLINE PAYMENT. They are changing their tactics. BEWARE.
