Village residents one step closer to a new fire station

5/22/2015

Item 7b on the May 21, 2015 village board agenda was Discussion/Action regarding the recommendation of the Richfield Volunteer Fire Company to hire MSI General for the development of architectural plans — Fire Station No. 1, Heritage Park.
This item passed and is the first step in a long process for Richfield to get a new fire station positioned almost in the center of the village. So much better for response time as well as have sleeping quarters so the fire company can retain a volunteer staff.

It looks as though building of the new station could potentially begin sometime in early 2016. No design plans have been created just the decision as to who will be the architectural firm. MSI General has worked with the near by communities of City of Hartford as well as the City of Slinger.

Will all the trucks be moved to this station or will the Appleton station still be used?

Laurie. The new station will replace station #2 on Hwy 164. All of the vehicles and staff currently housed at the existing station #2 would move to the new station. The main offices and daytime staffing will be moved to the new station once it is operational. Station #1 on Hwy 175 will remain in use with the same number of vehicles and staff as is the case today.
