Usher isn't playing any shows in the United States this summer except for one: Summerfest on closing night.
Festival officials have confirmed Usher will headline the Marcus Amphitheater on July 6th.
The Summerfest show is preceding the anticipated fall release of Usher's next album, so there's the possibility he'll premiere new material in Milwaukee. And he'll certainly perform hits from "Confessions," the bestselling solo album in the U.S. during the first decade of the 21st century, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.
Joining Usher in Milwaukee will be pop singer Bebe Rexha, one of the songwriters behind Eminem and Rihanna's hit single "The Monster."
Tickets for Usher's Summerfest show are available beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Summerfest box office, Ticketmaster retail outlets, by calling (800) 745-3000 and visiting ticketmaster.com. Show time and pricing information were not made available at deadline, but tickets will include access to the Summerfest ground stages.
Usher is the ninth Marcus Amphitheater headliner to be announced for this year's festival. The other shows are: Bruno Mars with special guest Aloe Blacc, June 25; Lady Gaga with Crayon Pop, June 26; Brad Paisley with Darius Rucker and Joel Crouse, June 27; Outkast with Gary Clark Jr., June 29; Dave Matthews Band, July 2; Zac Brown Band, July 3; Motley Crue with Alice Cooper, July 4; and Fall Out Boy and Paramore with New Politics July 5.
Last month, 76 ground-stage headliners were announced for the 11-day festival, including Pentatonix, Ludacris, Tegan and Sara, Five Finger Death Punch, Scotty McCreery, Bonnie Raitt, Melissa Etheridge and the Head and the Heart.
Advance general-admission tickets are on sale now at summerfest.com, including $9 weekday tickets (before 4 p.m.), $16 single-day tickets and three-day passes for $42. Pick 'n Save stores across the region are also selling 11-day passes April 15 through June 1 for $70 each. Admission to Marcus shows is not included with these tickets.
