The state has agreed to chip in its $90,355 share to complete a $544,652 equipment storage building at West Bend Municipal Airport.
The Federal Aviation Administration paid $363,850 in transportation aid toward the project with the city contributing $90,357.
The announcement came from Gov. Scott Walker’s office Monday.
The building will house snow removal equipment, which “will extend the life of the airport’s snow removal equipment,” said David Montesinos, airport project manager with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. “It will help reduce costs associated with keeping pavements clear of snow at the cityowned airport.”
The West Bend Municipal Airport is one of 98 facilities in the Wisconsin State Airport System Plan, which makes it eligible for state and federal funding. Airport improvement projects are administered through the DOT’s Bureau of Aeronautics.
