Special Meeting of the Richfield Village Board

10/23/2015

On Monday October 26, the Richfield Village Board will hold a special meeting to discuss and vote regarding 2 petitions submitted by Danah Zoulek, owner of the Scenic Pit. Signatures were also gathered by Jeff Gonyo of the Highway J group.

The agenda includes the following items:

DISCUSSION/ACTION ITEMS
Item 4 - Public Comments on items on the agenda.
Item 5 - a. Discussion/Action regarding a direct legislation petition to institute term limits on the Village Board by Ms. Danah Zoulek
b. Discussion/Action regarding a direct legislation petition to expand the Village Board size by Ms. Danah Zoulek

Information regarding the petitions and action by the board can be found on the Village of Richfield website. This link is directly to the packet of information and may take awhile to open in your computer. Be patient.  It also includes a copy of all the petitions with signatures submitted to the Village.

Remember Danah Zoulek had campaigned for Village Trustee April 2015 and lost. Jeff Gonyo has lost 3 lawsuits against the Village of Richfield and still owes the court appointed fees to the village.  He lives in the Town of Polk.

Do you want someone from outside the village to be impacting your Village? Come to the village meeting and have your voice heard.

More importantly, over 1,300 Richfield Residents signed these petitions. The Direct Legislation items were attached to each and every petition so they were informed. These are voters and tax payers of Richfield who want these changes.

I promised during my campaign to run on term limits and adding 2 members to the board, I've followed through with that promise with the help of over 1,300 people!

Ok, 15% of the voters signed. I will bet that half of them did not understand the issue. Or in some cases they were bullied. Don't tell me that they weren't, I know for a fact that Jeff(who lives in POLK) pushed and was very aggressive. That is his style!.

And following through with your promise??? You Lost the election

I don't plan on commenting anymore to the people who circulated these petitions. But what I do plan on doing is helping to get the people who signed educated on the real FACTS of the issue.

Agreed Marie. I'm sure most of the people who signed didn't know the story behind all of this. It's a personal agenda for one person to get what she wants. Danah is not advocating for all. She's advocating for herself. Her arguing is coming purely from a potential financial loss. Very frustrated how she continues to push her personal agenda on everyone else and the village. She is not interested in what is best for the village or her neighbors. I can say this from all of the facts reviewed and personal experience (interactions with her).

Marie,

I would recommend googling the term "group think", it's a psychological phenomenon that occurs amongst a group of people when they all believe they are right even when they are presented accurate and true information that happens to oppose the "group's" beliefs.

Marie, let's be honest with ourselves and each other. I ran against 2 incumbents while a citizen group was running a smear campaign against me as a "landfill owner" who basically wanted to destroy Richfield. Incumbents have about a 94% re-election rate and not everyone wins the first time they run.

Marie, have you personally ever had a conversation with me or Jeff? How do you know that he is pushy and aggressive? His speaking style at meetings is passionate and persuasive, but this is not how he interacts with people face to face while petitioning.

Let's face it, there are people who love Jeff and people who hate Jeff. Simply saying that he's pushy, has a hidden agenda, or "bullied" people to sign is a bit extreme.

Go ahead and get them educated on the "Real Facts" of the issue. Term Limits and Board Size are pretty straight forward. Many of the people who signed knew about the pit, HWY J, and so on and so on.

These petitions have nothing to do with any ONE SPECIFIC ISSUE in Richfield, rather they are about restoring good government in the community by giving residents more power!

Marie, I have offered and offered to meet with you and my offer still stands. You have berated me, slandered me, and boast strong opinions about me yet you have never had a conversation with me!

As always, I'm open and willing to chat, 262-355-6078

Thank you, let's see if we can start working TOGETHER!

I wouldn't suggest meeting with Danah. I have had two very negative interactions with her over the years involving her swearing/calling me names and "giving me the finger". I felt personally very disrespected (not to mention my 14 year old dog being harassed by her dog). Both of these instances were related to her not containing her dog on a consistent basis. I don't believe she is capable of taking honest feedback and responding professionally. This is a fact with witnesses. And, both of these instances occurred before I even knew who she was. I had to call the Sherriff the next day to get input on how to handle the situation if her dog were to be loose again. That's when I found out who she was. So, I guess I would just caution one from having that type of meeting unless you plan on just listening to her and agreeing to everything she says. She offers to meet but I wouldn't trust her intentions in that offer. Just speaking from personal experience.
