Richfield residents have begun to stir

8/13/2015

Jeff Gonyo and Danah Zoulek are going house to house and attending sporting activities to try and get signatures for a petition to hold a referendum to change the Village Charter which establishes the Richfield village board at 5 members.

Stirring is defined as a mental impulse, sensation or feeling. As you will read Richfield residents sense what Jeff and Danah are doing is not good for Richfield so they are making the right decisions.

So far, in some cases, Jeff and Danah's efforts have been thwarted.
Below you will read some comments heard from Richfield residents.
"Sounds like Lake Five all over again.  We need to get rid of Jeff once and for all!"

"They were going door to door here on XXX XXX about 5 pm Monday.  My husband answered the door and when he asked, Jeff did identify himself.  My husband just said "good-bye" and closed the door in his face since he didn't want a confrontation."

"Tonight at 8:30 Jeff and Danah were at my brothers front door.  They live on heather hill. Jeff was a jerk, he and danah tried to bully my sis in law into signing the petition.  Fortunately she knew about him.  He kept telling her that SHE does not want trustees to be on the board long and should have term limits.

Finally she just closed the door in their faces. This is getting out of hand where they can just actually argue with you to sign their petition.  They should not be ringing doorbells at night either.
My sister in law said if no one believed this they could call her."

Richfield residents know what makes sense. They will continue stirring as needed to prevent this petition drive.

No one has been at my door yet. But if someone were to ask me to sign I would decline based on several facts.
First, I think the size of our board is in proportion to the population. The current board has not expressed that they have an over abundance of work that they can't get through. The Village employees have not complained that the current board is unable to handle the workload. With the exception of the scenic pit issue, most meetings are lighlty attended by residents and the items on the agenda are addressed, discussed, voted on, and the village business is done. That is the role of the village board.

We can't expect the residents to pay out more money to increase the size of the board just because someone disagrees with a decision they have made. For those who disagree or think they can have a positive impact on the Village they can run for a trustee position. If they don't get enough votes - their message didn't resonate with the people! We don't need to add seats and spend more tax payer money to accomodate people who have not garnered the support of the voters.

Both cases above should notify the village to have this documented. Not sure if you need a permit, but going door to door without identifying yourself (at night) is unacceptable behavior...

I signed this petition from a man who came to our door. I wish I had not now. Is there a way to take a signature back?

that is why you don't sign without knowing the details. I suggest you contact Danah or Jeff Gonyo and request they take your name off. If you don't know their number then I suggest you contact the village hall. If they intimidated or bullied you to sign, then I suggest you contact the sheriff.

to the "scenic pit" group: If you continue to harass people who disagree with you, you may find yourselves having restraining orders. Calling peoples place of employment, affiliated groups or family may be cause for big trouble. You would not want people calling your husbands clients and complaining.

Can someone remove my previous comments? I did not realize this was public, and my intent is not to trash anyone, but i dont feel this man explained fully who this was for as said 'we' this and 'we' that. He pulled in our driveway. He had 2 clipboards. He briefly explained what each was and said we are asking for signatures for support. After reading more of the story on Facebook, I don't feel I made the right decision for me in signing. So I will try emailing the address you gave me to get my signatures removed. Thank you all for your help.

The petition has a underlining agenda then adding trustees. This is another way for the pit (dump) LLC to obtain supporters.

Why would someone who lives in Polk (not Richfield) agitate the village residents over and over. What vendetta does he have with Richfield?
