RHS Messer/Mayer Mill

The Richfield Historical Society's (RHS) main purpose is to preserve and maintain the Messer/Mayer Mill located in the Richfield Historical Park. At the October 22nd program meeting of the RHS Herb Lofy announced, "The second phase of the restoration has been completed. With your help we can get this project completed."

Now is the time for residents of Richfield and anyone interested in preserving the only mill in Wisconsin that has all its original milling equipment intact to donate to help complete this project. Donation information available.
To meet the goal of "Let's Get the Mill Grinding" the basement walls needed to be secured and restored. There were many cracks in the walls so a restoration project was started in 2009.

Finally, sufficient funds were raised to restore part of the foundation (phase 1). In 2013, the northern basement wall and portions of the east and west walls were tuck pointed and repaired. Today it can be announced that phase 2 has been completed. The east wall is secured.

Phase 3 is the hardest and most expensive part of the project which includes digging out the Leffel turbine which will eventually be powered by water from the Coney Creek. Get all of the shafting connected so the large millstones can once again make wheat into flour.

"Let's Get the Mill Grinding", it can be done with your financial assistance.
