Property sale — no insider deal!

11/12/2013

On November 13th the West Bend Daily News published a letter to the editor from Rock Brandner of Richfield. In advance of including the letter it is noteworthy to include historical election information posted on the Washington County web site.

Spring election 2008
Don Kriefall 366 votes 48.6%
Bill Meyers 387 votes 51.3%
(only 22 more votes and Don Kriefall would have won)

Spring election 2010
Bill Meyers 338 votes (no opposition)
(less votes than in 2008. Consider, if he was doing a great job as Supervisor why did he receive less votes than in 2008)

Spring election 2012
Don Kriefall 620 votes 56.78%
Bill Meyers 468 votes 42.86
(Landslide for Don Kriefall)
Property sale — no insider deal

I feel obligated to comment on the derogatory remarks made by Bill Meyers in the Your Views section of the Daily News regarding the village of Richfield having Chicago-style politics.

He also made derogatory remarks about former Town Chairman John Kohl and former Town Board member Dan Goetz receiving favors from subsequent Town Board members regarding the rezoning of their properties where the Reflections Village development now exists. This was not an insider deal. Both Kohl and Goetz stated the offer to purchase received for their land did not carry a contingency clause requiring the town of Richfield to rezone the property. Any landowner who receives an unsolicited offer for his property and is satisfied with the offered price would be happy to complete the sale.

The majority of the current village trustees who were criticized by the flyer were not members of the board when the rezoning was approved by the Town Board.

I think Meyers is unhappy because the Richfield residents in District 26 of Washington County voted him out of office in 2012 after serving two terms.

He also made derogatory comments about the Richfield Lions Club saying he was abused by members of the club. I have been a member of the Richfield Lions club for more than 30 years and have never witnessed anyone be abused by another member of the club.

If Meyers is unhappy living in Richfield, I would suggest he move elsewhere. I do not think he would be missed.
