Another usual item is revision of the projected 2014-15 budget. But this year the budget could include the possible purchase of additional property. This purchase could be part of capital improvement expenditures. The property, which is adjacent to the school on Basswood Lane, includes a home and free standing garage. It could give some well needed expansion opportunity for the school. The board agreed to obtain more information about the property.
If the board deems this purchase a good decision for the district they would not need to obtain a mortgage, they would be able to offer a cash transaction and hopefully complete it within the next six months. This seems to be perfect timing in anticipation of the planned road construction of Hwy 175 and a new roundabout at the intersection of Highways 175 and 167. New entrance and exit accesses will be planned due to the road construction.
Also on the agenda was the appointment of a replacement for Mr. Philip Neumann who has resigned as school board member. Mr. Gallitz offered nominations of Dawn Sericati and Mark Medla. The final decision will be announced at the October board meeting.
While many see fall as leading toward the end of the year it also brings new beginnings.
