New Business Coming to Downtown Richfield

9/8/2017

The September 7th Richfield Plan Commission agenda included multiple rezoning items but the most important item was a rezoning to bring a new business to downtown Richfield.

Two Brothers Wines LLC will be a new business located next to the Richfield Post Office on Hwy 175.  Description of the business as described in the Plan Commission packet is noted in Read More.. For more information about their current business in Pewaukee check their website.

As noted in Plan Commission Packet:
Two Brothers Wines LLC wishes to occupy the building next to the. US Post Office at 1923 STH 175, We wish to move our current operations located in Pewaukee, WI. Our Art Gallery and winery would make a great fit for the Village of Richfield, Our proposal would come under Ordinance §70.200.5(D)(4), since a winery is not expressly stated in Ordinance §70,200.5(8).

A winery operation is very similar in character to the permitted use of a bakery, in a bakery, yeast is:  combined with flour, water, sugar and other Ingredients to produce a produce that Is sold in the front retail area of the store. In a winery grapes, grape juice and fruit is combined with water, yeast and other Ingredients to promote the conversion of sugars to carbon dioxide and alcohol. The end product is packaged and sold to the general public in the front retail area of the store.

However, unlike a bakery, a winery does not need large ovens to produce the necessary heat to convert the flour mixture into a finished good. During fermentation, the conversion of sugar to alcohol is a natural process. A winery does need large tanks to hold the grapes/juice during the entire process of primary fermentation, secondary fermentation, fining and bottling.
Under §70.200,5(B)(22), a bakery appears to be allowed to bake goods that can be sold in another location other than the bakery's store. front. A larger winery, while still maintaining Is local store front could also produce enough wine to enable the sale at local restaurants or other local retail outlets.

As a member of the Wisconsin Winery Association, an association that includes over 100 Wisconsin wineries, we attract hundreds of wine enthusiast to our winery to taste and buy our wines. These people also look for other services, like eaters or other interesting attractions when they are in the area. We believe that our winery will make Richfield a place to come to enjoy the great scenic view from Holy Hill, enjoy a great from one of the many fine restaurants and, maybe stop in for some local wine.

Welcome to Richfield.
