Mark Belling and Elections

8/2/2014

Mark Belling has said some inaccurate information about taxes in Richfield this week.  He said taxes were raised 6% between 2011 and 2014 budgets. Here are some facts for you you review and decide for yourself. Remember Richfield also has no debt.
Many of you probably heard about the Mark Belling show and how he attacked Sandy Voss on raising taxes 6 percent. Remember all Sandy can be responsible for is the Village portion of your tax bill, excludes schools, county, state and technical school taxes. Mark got his information, from an anonymous someone, and that information probably included your Total tax bill. CANNOT BLAME THAT ON SANDY VOSS.

Well, let's see the village tax rate was in:
2011        1.5226 which means approximately $1.52 per $1,000 of your home value
2012        1.6422 approx $1.64
2013        1.65 approx $1.65
2014        1.6686 approx $1.67

So the rate went up $00.14 or 14 cents per thousand between 2011 and 2014, the difference between the rate in 2011 and 2014.

Estimated Village taxes on a $200,000 home was in:
2014  $333.72 (1.6686 x $200,000)
2011  $304.62 (1.5226 x $200,000)
Difference is $29.20. That is all you tax bill changed due to village budget. Or, this is all that is your share of the village tax bill due to the Richfield Village budget.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Richfield Village tax levy (the amount of money needed to be collected) was in:
2011  $2.39634 million
2012  $2.4243 million
2013  $2.429299 million
2014  $2.44678 million

The change between 2011 and 2014 was $55,146 or a 2% increase to the Village of Richfield budget.

Mark Belling did not have the right facts to make those statements about Sandy Voss. Now we really have to get Sandy Voss elected in the 58th.

Thanks for doing the research. My taxes living here in Richfield since 1992 have remained relatively the same. The cost of everything we all need to live has not. So it would seem that the Village of Richfield is doing a superb job.
