Item 4 Report a: Proposed landfill at 609 Scenic Road — Village Administrator Healy.
Administrator Healy noted so far the cost to the village to manage the Scenic Pit issue has totaled $45,000. It is hoped the court date will be set for some time in September. (Tax payer money paying for this?)
Jeff Gonyo spoke in favor of the Scenic Pit landfill and was told many times to keep his comments focused on the agenda item. He kept adding information about other issues and did not stay on the agenda item referring to the Scenic Pit. Ultimately Village President John Jeffords had to ask him to be seated. Do you like the tone of his voice?
Danah Zoulke spoke next. Did she want compensation from the village for not being able to dump at the landfill while waiting for the court date? The court case that she herself started. (Tax payer money paying for this?)
When one speaks during Public Comments the person is speaking to the village board, not to the public in attendance. Did Danah scream and yell about the recent activities at her home when she spoke to the village board members?
Video of Jeff Gonyo and Danah Zoulek at July 25th Richfield village board meeting. Do you like the tone of her voice? Did Jeff teach her to talk that way? Is that how someone talks professionally at a public meeting? Would a communication instructor call that a persuasive or controlling speech?
While no one should be subjected to the recent activities that have occurred at her home, she lost her sense of professionalism when she yelled at the board, none of whom caused the activities at her home. Did Danah and a few of her friends come in wearing matching tee shirts in support of the landfill?
Item 7 a: Discussion/Action regarding the recommendation of the Richfield Volunteer Fire Company to hire MSI General for Construction Management Services — Fire Station No. 1, Heritage Park.
Board members unanimously approved the decision to hire MSI General. There will be a slight delay to finalize the contract as the decision must be reviewed and approved by the village attorney.
Terry Kohl, Fire Chief of the Richfield Volunteer Fire Company liked the idea that the fire company would have more flexibility in design with this construction company.
Look for a possible ground breaking within the next 12 months.
