Interest in Consolidation Continues

3/10/2017

Earlier today an RT post regarding consolidation of the two school districts within the Village of Richfield included an article from the Wash. Cty. Daily News. Here you can also read the Journal Sentinel article on this topic.  JS portrays a little different focus on consolidation in general and highlights some parents concerns.

Look forward to Superintendents John Engstrom and Tara Villalobos to continue to focus on addressing parents and children concerns about the merger. Perhaps the parental organizations in each district might consider a fun picnic sometime this summer with baseball games. Parents and children could gather and meet one another. Richfield has wonderful parks to accommodate an event like that. Baseball usually brings people together in a fun atmosphere.
Take note: JS states Friess Lake is in the unincorporated community of Hubertus. Yes it is located in the mail delivery area of Hubertus but Richfield became a village in 2008.  Hubertrus and Colgate are not municipalities, they are mail delivery areas. Way back when, as a town, you might have seen the unincorporated signage for Hubertus and Colgate but those signs rightfully have been removed. The US Post Office likes those names for some reason.

Once Friess Lake and Richfield school districts become one there will be a new needed change to increase a sense of community in Richfield. It will be time for the US Post Office to have all postal locations, residential or business, within the Village of Richfield designated with a mailing address of Richfield. Then all residents and businesses within the Village of Richfield will truly feel like one community.

Time to get that done as well as one school district.
