"I would vote no on this referendum"

Recently you might have read the post titled, Richfield Referendums, and read that Gov Walker, Rep. Gannon, Rep, Brandtjen, and Senator Stroebel were asked to comment on their views of Term Limits at the local level.

Rep. Bob Gannon is the first person to respond to this question and his press release in attached.  He also is on the agenda for the Richfield Village Board Meeting March 17. You might want to attend.

Thank you Rep. Bob Gannon for responding and providing your thoughts.

Totally agree. How can we get a yard sign for the "no referendum"?

I agree, vote "NO" to term limits and "NO" to increasing the size of our Board.

I read with amazement the letter by Reid Snedaker in an earlier edition of the West Bend “Daily News” endorsing Danah Zoulek for the position of Village Trustee, advocating for increasing the size of the Board and imposing term limits on Board members.

Ms. Zoulek has a proposal before the Board to turn our neighborhood quarry into a landfill and she is doing everything in her power to impose her desire for profit over the will of the homeowners who reside around the quarry we affectionately call “the pit”. I have witnessed Zoulek threaten and berate the Board when she didn’t get her way. Never have I seen such disrespect from a candidate seeking to represent a constituency.

I understand that she has millions of dollars at stake from charging every dump truck that dumps fill into her quarry a “tipping fee”. Zoulek initially claimed that she purchased the pit as a place to let her horses run. Who buys a quarry that needs to be filled up with dirt, construction materials, etc, over a 7-10 year period, in order to give her horses a place to run? I submit that it was purchased simply to turn it into a for-profit dump; any other explanation strains credulity.

The concerned residents of Richfield have attended village meetings in droves, signed petitions, spoken out repeatedly and hired an attorney to stop Zoulek from accomplishing her mission. We are concerned about the endless parade of dump trucks, the noise, the pollution, damage to our roads & vehicles and most of all, the potential irreparable damage to our water supply and our children’s’ safety.

Regarding our current Board, it has done an outstanding job. Our balance sheet is exceptionally strong (I was at the meeting where the Accountant for the Village reported the breakdown of revenues/spending and we are in GREAT shape). I hope each Board member stays in their respective seat for as long as they continue to serve our community with the integrity and fiscal responsibility that they have shown up to this point.

Finally, there is no “ruling class” on our Board, as suggested by Snedaker. It is composed of honest, hardworking professionals who are acting in the best interest of the citizens of Richfield. It is working diligently to protect our “country way of life”. Standing up against Zoulek’s proposed landfill proves that. Zoulek has already cost us several thousands of dollars in legal and administrative fees as she continues to exhaust every path possible in her quest for her landfill. I hope the Board continues to fight for us against proposals like Zoulek’s, which endanger our health, safety and the environment we all cherish.

The fact that Ms. Zoulek isn’t getting approval for her “Golden Goose,” at our expense, is no reason to besmirch the Board, limit their terms, or reward Zoulek with the power and privilege of a Village Trustee. That would be a huge mistake. The last thing we need on our exceptional Board is a disgruntled member with a personal agenda and an axe to grind. I am voting against her on April 5th.

Chris - I agree all the way. I am so glad to see so many people aware how bad this situation is. There is a huge conflict of interest in her wanting to be on the board.
