Education Time for Campaign Signs

3/15/2016

Recently under the post Proof of "One Mans Experience" Matt Stevens commented, "A sign is placed in what I could see could be construed as a public intersection area. The video shows something that is not in dispute. However, I did ask you to post the video and I thank you for posting it."  Matt, you are welcome.

And Thanks Matt for providing an opportunity to explain the guidelines for campaign signs in Village of Richfield. The code states:

Political campaign signs shall not be displayed on any building or grounds that are owned, operated, or maintained by any public agency or on any Village-owned post or traffic control device or on any pole, post, or appurtenance owned or operated by any utility. Such signs shall be located only on private property or privately maintained public right-of-way adjacent to the private property and only with the property owner's or renter's prior consent. Such signs shall be located so as not to constitute a danger to the traveling public.

Clearly this homeowner has the right to give or hold consent regarding a sign in the right-of-way in front of his home.

Also, truly enjoyed having a conversation with Matt tonight.

Again you might need to use the + sign to make this document larger or just go to the village code on village web site.

Thanks for posting this. I see you are exactly correct on what the code states.

If you would need an easier explanation about the rules for any kind of sign, this can't get any simpler. Especially any signs along Hwy Q. and Hwy 175.

Several signs have been erected throughout the community on private property without the owner's consent. Many have been removed.

The owner of the empty lot on the corner of Amy Belle & Willow Creek across from the apple orchard lives in New Mexico and did not grant permission. The sign has been taken down.

The property owner on the corner of 175 & Mequon did not grant permission and is not happy. The sign will be removed shortly.

You'll note that the gas station on the corner of 175 & Willow Creek no longer has the large sign since he was informed by several residents that it would be detrimental to his business.

As someone else stated, I believe Danah is now also stating that these signs are being "stolen". That is false from what I am reading and figured as much. Another example of how she is not being truthful on this as well as potentially other issues such as her platform. Just amazing that she didn't learn this about the signs in February during the primary. More drama and attempts to make herself look like a victim. Her behavior speaks for itself and gives her platform no legitimacy in my opinion. And, just to add, she isn't fighting for my rights as she often states. She is fighting for her personal interest and again, I wish she would just be honest about that.

It is funny how she put up signs and never asked for permission. So, those people took them down and now she is saying they are stolen. Interesting. She is trying to make it look like a lot of people support her.
