Do you support an increase cost to Richfield's tax base or potentially lose village services?

In recent days Danah Zoulek and Jeff Gonyo, who lives in the Town of Polk, began an effort to get signatures for a petition to increase the number of members of the Richfield Village Board and to set term limits. Hopefully you will cautiously consider the consequences of that request.
If the number of village trustees were increased by two your cost for Richfield's elected officials will increase by $9,200 annually. Each trustee currently receives $4,600 annually.  What are you willing to give up in services if two more positions are added to the village board? How much road maintenance could be done for $9,200? Double that cost if you want to copy Germantown's board size of nine.

Richfield Town Supervisor and now Village Trustee salary has remained the same since at least the late 1980's or early 1990's.

Each year Jeff and his political activists make a political statement if the village budget increases. How can it be ok to increase the budget to get two more people on the village board? Could it be they want a better chance for their political activists to get elected?

Danah and Jeff are also asking for the village board members to have term limits. Richfield currently has term limits.  Each person elected to office is elected for two years after which they have to be a candidate for the next term.  If you as a Richfield resident are not happy with what a particular person does in office you can vote them out of office after two years.

Does Danah and Jeff really want to set a limit to the number of times a person can run for office? Let's say two terms? That means one person can potentially have only 4 years in office.  Oh my..... that means if you like what one person does while elected then they have to leave office after 4 years. Get this.....it means a greater chance for one of Jeff's political activists to get in office. Has Danah or Jeff told that to residents when they are going door to door?

After seeing the video which shows what Jeff and Danah did and said at the July Richfield Village Board meeting do you really want Danah or one of Jeff's political activists to get in office?

Richfield residents.......you need to really consider if you want to sign the petition being brought to you by the newest Jeff Gonyo and Danah Zoulek show.

Also if they come to your door ask for their names.

I can understand adding one to two more individuals to the village board, as population has increased in Richfield over the last few years, and i think residents could understand that. However, I can envision what will happen if the village board salary is increased. Look! They voted to increase their pay! Recall! I think people are getting sick of political turmoil.

Increasing the pay of the village board should be left up to the board. If board members feel they deserve additional compensation- explain why and vote to approve it. I would guess, however, that elected officials at the local level do their job more to be of public service to the community, and not for the pay. I saw this happen first hand at the Hartford Union High School District annual meeting in 2014, where board members agreed to keep their compensation (around $2000) the same as the previous year, and it had not been changed for many years before that.

A term is not the same thing as a term limit.

Jeff Gonyo is a troublemaker and has been for years. Be careful what you sign. It will be public record and used against you.
