Caution at RR tracks on Willow Creek

7/25/2015

Recently the Canadian National railroad tried to fix a problem only to make it worse for drivers.

There was a concern that the tracks were sinking and needed to be repaired. The road repairs now have drivers going over a noticeable bump as the railroad tracks are higher than the road.

What will happen this winter when the snow plow drivers go over the bump and hit the tracks. Time will tell.

It is absolutely terrible that the railroad company would create this "speed bump" at the Willow Creek Road RR crossing in Colgate. Now area residents will have to go slower over the railroad tracks instead of speeding through this area.

Many local residents are so upset because of the railroad creating this obnoxious speed bump that they now are organizing a new community action group called R.E.A.R. [Richfield Elitists Against the Railroad]. The mission statement of R.E.A.R. is to eliminate all railroad tracks from going through the Village of Richfield thereby eliminating all of these types of railroad crossings in our community.

Please support R.E.A.R. -- ending all railroad tracks from coming into Richfield -- doing so will "protect our country way of life" here.

It could be worse- you could live in Erin where there is no natural gas or cable TV because they are afraid a garter snake will die when utilities are brought in

Willow Creek Road brings such turmoil to the Village of Richfield. Such a "pit-y" "petty" concern. I'm sure that the snow plow trucks know how to raise the plow while crossing the railroad tracks- unless there is a Village ordinance which prohibits such an act.
