Have you noticed a great political divide in America over the past 20 years? If you have and want to learn from someone who wrote about this, you will want to read the article attached below from Hillside College.

"Under present circumstances, the American constitutional future seems to be approaching some kind of crisis - crisis of the two Constitutions. Lets us pray that we and our countrymen will find a way to reason together and to compromise, allowing us to avoid the worst of dire scenarios - that we will find, that ism the better angels o four nature."   by Charles R. Kersler

A nice bit of History

Frank Sinatra considered Kate Smith the best singer of her time, and said that when he and a million other guys first heard her sing "God Bless America" on the radio, they all pretended to have dust in their eyes as they wiped away a tear or two.

Here are the facts: The link at the bottom will take you to a video showing the very first public singing of "God Bless America." But before you watch it, you should know the story behind the first public showing of the song.

Numerous residents received the following message this morning, seems many have questions and here are some answers..

Good morning everyone,

I hope this email finds you doing great on this Monday morning!

With just over one (1) week until Election Day, I wanted to forward to everyone the FAQs that were recently published in the Richfield Happenings newsletter. I would be very appreciative if you could please forward this on to your respective organizations, subdivision HOA members, Lake Association members, friends, family, etc. for circulation to help raise voter awareness and answer some of the questions we’ve been hearing over the last several months regarding this planned referendum. Thank you in advance for your time and consideration of this request. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at your earliest convenience.

Take care and have a safe and happy rest of your week!
With gratitude,
Jim Healy, Village Administrator (262)-628-2260

The July/August 2018 Imprimis publication by Hillsdale College has a very interesting and enlightening article by Edward J. Erler.

If you want to learn the history of some of the USA immigration policies and what might be the effects that you could live with in the future take time to read what this professor has to say.

This link will take you to Hillsdale College and the July/August article.

Electing a new Sheriff on August 14

7/24/2018

August 14th is election day for determining a new Washington County Sheriff.  There are 2 Republican candidates and no Democratic candidates so your vote that day will decide who will become the next Washington County Sheriff.

At a recent gathering attendees heard that both candidates held the same political leaning but what really makes them different is their experience and length of service on the Washington County Sheriff Dept.

The 2 article links below are written by Owen Robinson who has a blog "Boots and Sabers".  Some people have asked questions about Martin Schullties wife having signed the Walker recall. If you feel that is a concern you might want to read the articles. Since she will not make decisions as a Sheriff many think that is a non issue. The real issue is what experience Martin Schulties would bring to the office of Sheriff from his 27 years of service to Washington County Residents and Richfield as his service for police safety to the village.

June 13th, the West Bend Moose Lodge will be the host site for the meeting of Common Sense Citizens of Washington County (CSCWC). The meeting will begin at 7:00 and feature the two candidates for Washington County Sheriff. Jason Guslick and Martin Schulteis. They will introduce themselves and field questions from the audience. If you have a question to ask, please present it in a manner that both candidates can answer. The sheriff election is August 14.

The June 28th meeting will feature U.S. Senate candidate Kevin Nicholson.

The July 11th meeting will be a voter forum with candidates in the August 14 primary for the 59th Assembly seat. This district encompasses the near Kewaskum area and into Fund du Lac County.

The 58th Assembly seat is now held by Rick Gundrum. Not sure if there will be a forum for this district as there is no primary. Election will be in November.

Bernie Newman has been the President of CSCWC since 2017. He conducts very honest and effective meetings which have been greatly improved since he became President.

Election Day April 3 - VOTES Needed

4/2/2018

Tomorrow is an important election day in Richfield.  Friess Lake and Richfield School Districts are merging and the ballot is very unusual this year.  If you do not know who to vote for call the candidates and ask which school board they currently represent and why you should vote for them.

Check this site to see the ballot and candidates. Call them and talk with them.

Also If you live in Wash County Supervisor District 23 be mindful that Jennifer Guslick lives in the Town of Germantown with a Richfield address. Currently a Town of Germantown Supervisor. If she wins Germantown will have 4 County Supervisors representing Germantown and Richfield will just have 2.

Also this past Friday her husband announced he is a candidate for Washington County Sheriff in the fall. It is quite possible she will have to recuse herself for the Sheriff budget as she would personally benefit from his salary. That still needs to be determined. Time to Vote.
