Danah Zoulek If you look at the minutes from the 2005 meeting when the board was discussing the Jacklin Pit restoration there were pages of residents in opposition. Yet, the project was pushed through. The main reason the residents opposed that project was because they didn't want a huge subdivision with approx. 1.25 acre lots. There's more to this than just the Scenic Pit, of course. Voting on the boards' "own special interests" can come in many different forms as well. For instance, they may fear if they upset the wrong group of people in the Village they may not get re-elected. This is where the game of politics can cloud logic and reason. I do have many examples of this current board's incompetency in the past 10 years and will be happy to post the proof as well. I also want to stress that I don't think the Village Board as a whole realizes they are behaving unethically, however there are certainly members of the board that are willing to participate in decisions that only put bandaids on issues in the Village rather than demonstrating true leadership by fixing the problems once and for all.

Richfield Today The people who were against that restoration are the same people who are now supporting the Scenic Pit such as Jeff Gonyo, Gil Frank, the Schmidt's, Greg Galinsky and all the other people from the Jeff Gonyo group. Other residents who lived around the wooded land were happy to have the subdivision rather than enlarge the gravel pit from Hubertus Rd to Elmwood Rd. That was the original proposal and Town board voted it down to save their home values. Payne and Dolan were gracious to restore the Jacklin Pit. GET YOUR FACTS CORRECT. You were not living here and if you were you were not at any meetings when that happened and if Jeff has not told you the correct facts then you got a problem. Make an Open Record request and you will see the facts not the stories you have heard.
