When Did Sewer and Water Become an Issue in Richfield - Mike Watson

12/21/2013

The "No Sewer" folks just do not know when to zip it. Can you imagine sending an email just 4 days before Christmas regarding their 12-3-13 meeting which they did not even hold in Richfield but at Bubs in Germantown. RT asks you to consider if they might be obsessed and just do not have better things to do at this time of year.

It seems "No Sewer" now has a candidate for Village Trustee, Mike Watson  (MW). Perhaps no one else in their group wanted to take on the task of running as a candidate so, to not look like they are a washed up group, MW had to throw his hat in the ring. RT suggests you follow the position statement of all candidates. What does MW want you to know, that he supports sewer and water to be a topic of interest for the 2014 village of Richfield election? Truly a non issue statement!

RT believes it is important you know MW is also a member of the Richfield Citizens for Responsible Government and donated $160.00 to them in 2013. And, RT was able to locate public records of MW.

Read the attachment below. What is really interesting?  The case below has been expunged from the Wisconsin Court System records.  RT wonders why? And perhaps how. MW now has three months, a great opportunity, to explain to Richfield residents what happened and how he will act if he gets elected.

Check back in 2014 to see information on all the candidates, before you Vote on April 1, 2014. RT will not endorse any candidates, just give you appropriate information.

By DAVE RANK  Daily News Staff

Mark McCune's district as Washington County Supervisor includes sections in the southwestern portion of the Village of Richfield and he is Washington County’s representative on the new regional cultural needs task force. He said Tuesday at the Washington County Courthouse that he was surprised how little the 48-member group talked about replacing the BMO Harris Bradley Center in Milwaukee.

“Predominantly, the discussion was on the needs of the area,” Mark McCune, county supervisor from the town of Erin, told the County Board’s Executive Committee. “It was an eye-opener for me.”

Germantown School Board Opposes Common Core

12/14/2013

Many families residing in Richfield live in the Germantown School District.  This is important information for all. Richfield Today supports the decision by the Germantown school board.

On Wednesday evening, the Germantown School Board became the first in Wisconsin to formally oppose Common Core standards by a vote of its members.  The news came the day after the Wisconsin Legislature's Select Committee on Common Core standards released survey results relating to the new benchmarks.  The results were the product of committee members asking school administrators for responses on whether they would adopt or not adopt Common Core.  Find out more about what academic standards Germantown will adopt.

WI Senator Glenn Grothman Continues Push for Raw Milk Sales

12/10/2013

Washington County area WI Senator Glenn Grothman continued to push for legalizing raw milk sales in the state.  He appeared on the WHLB radio Jerry Bader Show Tuesday morning. The West Bend Republican said it’s embarrassing to see Wisconsin not try to meet what he sees as growing demand for this product.  He pointed to the other states in the top ten of milk production.  Eight currently have rules for raw milk sales while the ninth could approve their own in the near future.

Grothman also questioned his Republican colleagues, given that in 2009 the then Democratic-led Legislature passed a raw milk bill, which was vetoed by Governor Jim Doyle.  He saw that gesture as a bipartisan effort for less government control.

A current bill to legalize raw milk sales that would require testing on the milk and cows passed committee last month.  Hopefully it might reach either the Assembly of Senate floor early next year.

Waukesha County leaders back stance against tax for Milwaukee arena

12/9/2013

Members of Waukesha County's Executive Committee on Monday recommended to the County Board that it oppose any imposition of a regional tax to finance the construction of a new Milwaukee arena. The vote was 7-0. The full County Board will consider the resolution at its Dec. 17 meeting.

The Waukesha County resolution also opposes any regional tax for possible renovation of the Wisconsin Center convention center or "any other cultural or entertainment venue in Milwaukee."

The move echoes other resolutions passed by the county boards in Racine and Ozaukee counties. Washington County has not taken any action.

Richfield No Sewer Group Meeting in Germantown

12/4/2013

Richfield Today wonders why the Richfield No Sewer group led by Gil Frank had to meet in Germantown last night. Yes, Germantown to plan things for Richfield!

Richfield Today is waiting to hear who they have propped up as a candidate for Village Supervisor in 2014.  Nothing yet announced in the Daily News. Hope the Daily News got smart and decided it was worthless to pay a reporter to attend a bogus meeting. The clue is noted below in red. Check back later, or wait to see who is on the April ballot.

Obamacare Nightmare Just Beginning

(Mark Belling is the host of a daily WISN radio talk show. His column runs Wednesdays in the Daily News.)
Millions likely to lose doctors, pay more for it

It’s not surprising the Democrat candidate for governor, Mary Burke, is ducking questions about whether she supports Obamacare. What’s she supposed to say? Endorse the most disastrous public policy initiative of the 21st century? But if she opposes it, she’ll alienate the left-wing zealots who make up the base of her party. Some Democrats say all of this will pass. They believe that once the website snafus are fixed and the program takes effect, it will gradually be accepted by the public and the backlash against Democrats will end. They’re dreaming.
