During the 2014 budget meeting on Sept. 24th Administrator Jim Healy noted the cost of salt for the upcoming winter season. For many years the Richfield board has purchased salt using a bidding process through the State of Wisconsin.
The village must purchase what they bid no matter how few snow storms arrive. For the 2014 budget the cost was $58.00 per ton. For the 2015 budget the cost will be $66.00 per ton. If you think that is expensive consider what any municipality who did not use the WI bidding process will have to pay. Are you ready? Up to $100.00 per ton. Mucho Thanks to your village staff and village board for using the WI salt bid process. Source: Village of Richfield Budget meeting September 23, 2014 The Richfield Village board met on September 23 to discuss the proposed 2015 village budget. In attendance were village board members and staff as well as 5 residents representing the Richfield Historical Society and 2 general residents.
The entire budget was reviewed and the final mill rate for 2015 budget by rounding up is the same as 2014 at 1.67. There is a very slight rate increase of .095%. The fractional difference from 2014 to 2015 is .0016 or $28,781. The biggest challenge is how to meet the visual needs and requests of many residents to improve Richfield roads while still keeping taxes low. Many of the Lioness members have joined the Lions and plan to continue this fun community event. The Richfield Historical Society will continue Christmas at the Mill on the same day, as well.
The location of a new Richfield Fire Station was one of the items on the September 18th Village Board agenda. After discussion the board agreed and approved that the new fire station would be located on the current village property along Hubertus Road. The building would be west of the village hall.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September 19, 2014 Contact: Jesse Dougherty (608) 257-4765 Mary Burke Plagiarized Jobs Plan, Violates MMSD Policies and Schools Where She Studied [Madison, Wis.] – In a shocking revelation, Madison liberal Mary Burke had the audacity to plagiarize major portions of her jobs plan - the foundation on which she has built her entire campaign. The plan, which was drafted by a Philadelphia-based consultant Eric Schnurer, includes widely used rhetoric employed by several other gubernatorial candidates across the country. Oddly, the consultant never appeared on a Burke finance report, and Burke has even said she will not alter her plan given these shocking revelations. Today the Florian Park Conference and Event Center in Germantown held their ribbon cutting ceremony. Guests were invited to tour the new facilities of "Indoor Elegance ....Outdoor Ambiance."
Richfield residents who live in Hartford Joint School District 1 could see their portion of taxes from the high school go down next year thanks to Act 10. This means better financial decisions have been made by the district four years in a row.
