April 4 Election Coming Soon

3/26/2017

Election chatter has been quite quiet recently in many areas of Washington County. Yes there are a few yard signs but still not much out there for residents to glean information.

Here is a RT post that provided some information for the 2017 Spring Primary. Now you have to again consider who you will vote for on April 4.

Suggestions are listed below:
Lowell Holtz for DPI
Todd Martens for Circuit Court Judge
Annette Ziegler for State Supreme Court
Brian Hagedorn for Appeals Court Judge
James Porous for Circuit Court Judge

For Richfield Village Positions you can consider:
John Jeffords for Village President
Rock Brandner for Village Trustee
Tom Wolff for Village Trustee

Take time to exercise your right to vote.

Let the fun begin. Watch ur mail boxes for lit drops. Reminder: if they don't have a stamp, they cannot be anywhere on the mail box. If so take them to the post office and complain. Or give them to the mail carrier

The Boy Scouts had literature on mailboxes without literature.

In other words, there are bigger problems in our community than fliers on mailboxes.

not following the postal regulations is a problem. Pay for a stamp

the scouts were wrong and they were told that!.

The USPS’s website states: “Except under 2.11 [dealing with newspaper boxes attached to mailboxes], the receptacles described in 1.1 may be used only for matter bearing postage. Other than as permitted by 2.10 or 2.11, **NO PART of a mail receptacle may be used to deliver any matter not bearing postage, including items or matter placed upon, supported by, attached to, hung from, or inserted into a mail receptacle.”
The U.S. Code for crimes and criminal procedure prohibits the placement of unstamped flyers in any mailbox. Title 18, section 1725 states that any person who knowingly deposits "mail-able matter" without postage in an established letter box shall be subject to a fine.

The Government Accountability Office reports that fines may be as high as $5,000 per occurrence for individuals and $10,000 per occurrence for organizations.

This law is commonly known as the "mailbox restriction."

C'MON! Here lies the real problem! Not fixing roads, not property rights, not open government, or equal protection under the U.S. Constitution. Holding people to the law of mailboxes trumps everything.

How do you know the Boy Scouts were told that? That's just sad, not even the Boy Scouts can escape the Republic Of Richfield and its minions! Unreal!

no , you are comparing apples to oranges. The post office regulations are all over the country. maybe you don't know the rules, but you should. So call the boy scouts and ask them for yourself. You are the first one to point out the regulations as you see them, so don't bark when you don't like them. As far as roads etc, that is a village issue. stick to the issue of post office regulations

The Boy Scout FOOD DRIVE for the needy happens once a year. This organization tries to teach kids that giving to the needy is very important! If we are saying we would rather it not interfere with the Post Office for one day then to teach our children to help others then I say it's a VERY sad day. Where is our humanity????
